We are looking for a Packaging Developer for our GiftSet Packaging Experts (GSPE) team who will be accountable for the Design to Delivery of secondary packaging tasks for giftset developments working from the direction of the Global Promo Platform Team (GPPT), GNPD, & Marketing teams. Reporting to the NA GSPE Manager as a member of the External Operations Supply Chain organization, the GSPE Developer will work with many cross functional teams to deliver our Gifting seasons on time, within cost, and of the quality our customers expect.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Collecting Conception Costs based on design briefs, creating Bills of Material (BOM), Component Specifications, performing testing , ensuring quality, and accounting for cost improvement projects.
Assisting with the Innovation, Conception, Evaluation, and Execution phases to design and execute packages that will meet Coty’s required criteria in terms of Quality, Cost, Timing, Functionality, Manufacturability, Aesthetics, Safety, Innovation, Recyclability, and Sustainability.
Researching and presenting innovations within cost potentials to the GPPT/Marketing teams during the Pre-Conception phase
Attending Briefing/Kickoff meetings with the GPPT/Marketing teams during the Conception phase
Hosting/Attending Vendor Summits to review Design Turn Overs (DTO &/or FUF) with suppliers to ensure accurate pre-costs are captured during the Conception phase
Creating BOMs housed within the SAP system communicating with GPPT, GNPD, WWP and Planning to maintain and ensure accuracy
Creating Component Specifications via the Coty Prosper Spec system
Tracking the Development milestones surrounding the packaging components and communicating dates/updates to the GNPD, GPPT, WWP, Quality, and Planning teams
Coordinating samples of packaging/WIPs to perform Packaging Tests on the giftset secondary packaging during development
Reviewing/Approving Artwork files within Coty, sharing the final files with the Supplier, and ensuring the final files for production are saved within the Coty systems
Approving Standards for the Componentry of the giftsets
Creating and/or Reviewing/Approving Assembly Instructions for/from the Assembly Sites
Attending TPM and Factory Kickoff meetings to communicate the season’s projects at hand
Attending 1st Productions when possible to ensure the gift sets are of the correct quality expectations
Assisting in Quality issues as it relates to the gift sets and support existing business needs
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
We’d love to see candidates who have:
4 Year Degree or equivalent experience
1+ years of experience in cosmetics/pharmaceutical/personal care consumer packaged goods industry with an emphasis on promotional/gift set packaging development
Working knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes in cGMP environments
Detailed knowledge of packaging for cosmetics, toiletries and fragrance preferred
Experience with industrialization processes, especially for new products, based on established success criteria
Experience in primary through tertiary packaging development for new product launches
Experience with Quality Management for New Product Development processes (Technical Readiness/5D )
Must be able to demonstrate competency in handling the interpretations of blue prints and understand the dimensional tolerances to stack-up various component types
Highly proficient in usage of IT tools – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other computer systems
Technical expertise in components manufactured in various packaging materials
Knowledge of DOT Hazmat packaging requirements for flammable/hazardous personal care products
Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system along with Specification systems is preferred
