The Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) provides leadership, service, and support for innovation and excellence in teaching and learning, and for the thoughtful use of educational technology, which includes online and blended learning, media services, and classroom technologies. CITL is undertaking a new strategic plan to further consolidate instruction, curriculum and technology and will play a more central role in the evolution of the teaching and learning environment at Memorial. The position of Educational Developer is within the Educational Development Unit of CITL working with academic units and educators to enhance the student educational experience at Memorial University, across the domains of educational innovation, curriculum development, and scholarly practices of teaching and assessment of learning. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, the work includes: consulting on program and course development with academic units and educators; developing and facilitating evidence-based professional development experiences for educators and graduate students that may include effective teaching practices, assessment of learning, and technology-enhanced learning; promoting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning by supporting educators in research on teaching practices, playing a key role in facilitating dissemination activities of teaching research and initiatives, and engaging in knowledge creation and dissemination within CITL; developing online resources (e.g. guides, handbooks, workbooks, tool kits) to support teaching excellence; promoting thoughtful integration of technology and teaching practices to enhance learning; and other related duties as required.
The successful candidate will have experience (3-5 years) in educational development, or teaching in Higher Education, with skills in curriculum development, the assessment of learning, university instruction, and technology-enhanced learning; and completion of a Masters-level degree (PhD preferred). An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Other required qualifications include: research skills or demonstrated engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning through dissemination activities of teaching research and/or initiatives; knowledge of innovative teaching and learning practices and strategies within Higher Education (e.g. high-impact practices, course design, universal instructional design, team-based learning and blended learning); competence in the use and application of educational technologies; strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; and facilitation, presentation, project management, administrative, and organizational skills including the ability to skillfully manage situations involving challenge, conflict and the need for confidentiality. SALARY $65,960 - $85,501 per annum (Management and Professional)
