Vertiv is hiring an Mechancial Engineering Technician in Lincoln, Neb. who will primarily be responsible for the development of automation, build aids, gauges, functional test fixtures, and specialized tools used in the manufacture of rack PDU products and their component parts. As an Associate Project Engineer, you will understand Vertiv’s unique approach to rack PDU manufacturing in order to develop manufacturing solutions that further enable our contract manufacturer and operations teams to efficiently and safely deliver quality products. You will collaborate with project management, development engineering, test engineering, and operational teams around the globe to deliver the capabilities required for the timely release of new products. As part of the product life cycle, you will develop solutions that further enhance efficiency and safety. Our ideal candidate is a highly driven, self-motivated individual who will bring an ability to meet aggressive timelines, be comfortable working with other functional roles in order to gain the inputs required for their work, and have an unyielding desire to improve established processes and tools.
Generate work estimates, timelines, and cost estimates for projects (5%)
Identify, plan, design, and implement projects to improve quality, reduce cost, increase productivity, ensure safety (25%)
Design and fabricate fixtures to support product development, testing, and production (25%)
Generate design documentation and bills of materials for implemented solutions (10%)
Support global operations teams throughout new product introduction process (20%)
Install, repair, and/or rebuild production related equipment (10%)
Support ISO Quality System and Continuous Improvement efforts (5%)
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred; 2-Year Technical Program or Certification may be considered
1-3 years' experience desired
Proficiency in mechanical drafting principles and CAD software tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
Operational knowledge of conventional tool room machinery, including CNC equipment
Demonstrated technical writing skills
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions to devise solutions
Ability to use a forklift and hand truck
