Mechanical/Applications Engineer

Summary: GCS is seeking an energetic experienced Applications Engineer that will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of electrical and mechanical adaptations for mechanical drives, power generation and propulsion control systems driven by prime movers (steam / gas / hydro turbines and diesel / gas engines).
A main focus of the engineering group is the retrofit and conversion of control systems to Woodward and other programmable controls, as well as auxiliary control systems be they PLC’s, HMI’s, power management controls, as well as mechanical adaptations. You will be expected to take a project from conception through design and testing to onsite commissioning and all the necessary documentation on the way.
GCS is a service driven company, we must respond to our customers needs in a timely and effective manor as such there will be times when urgent travel, technical support is required
Duties:
Sales support, Determining customer requirements and development of a statement of work, Estimate project costs for materials and engineering resource, quote development.
Project engineering, from BOM, Electrical and Mechanical design and development, drawings, Manuals and any documentation to support the solution, to customer support.
Machine Design. Detail drawings development, Machine shop fabrication support.
Hydraulic systems trouble shooting and design
Inhouse technical support, of sales and service groups as well as customer technical support.
Site support, commissioning and service if required.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent and 3 years relevant work experience or 12 years relevant work experience in power generation, industrial automation or related industry.
AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Word, Excel
Demonstrated self starting ability with good interpersonal skills
Automation Control Systems and Instrumentation experience.
PLC / HMI / SCADA programming experience, is a plus.
Valid US Driving License
