Adhere to and drive the highest level of safety for yourself, others, the product and the equipment.
Responsible for sustaining engineering, troubleshooting, training and documentation of all aspects of a high-volume line.
Maintain and improve robotic automation systems for high-speed, high-volume, automated and semi-automated production of solar modules or cells in 24/7 operation.
Drive and execute improvements in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity using data-driven approach.
Working closely with Maintenance and Production personnel to support efforts which will improve the performance of manufacturing systems in respect to yield, productivity, predictability and OEE.
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electro-mechanical problems for all manufacturing equipment. Find and eliminate root cause of tool malfunctions, using knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics with rigorous problem solving (Cause and Effect, Root Cause Analysis) methodology.
Perform and drive safe behaviors in all tasks and areas. Initiate and drive safety improvements in the methods, machines, processes and areas.
Establish work instructions and procedures for operation and for minor/major equipment maintenance tasks.
Program and teach robot for series of manipulator (arm-hand) moves (movements) manually or by electronic instructions to a microprocessor or by setting up and adjusting sequence by hand-held teach pendant.
Develop and deploy training and certification programs for staff including material used and on-the-job 1:1 training
Work cooperatively, cross-functionally and independently to achieve factory goals.
Review equipment effectiveness (OEE) data to initiate and manage continuous improvement projects of tool performance and overall manufacturing systems
Establish equipment benchmarks/comparisons.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience) is required. Advance degree preferred.
5+ years experience in a similar engineering role
Experience editing/debugging programs for PLCs and soft-PLC controls along with hardware & software development, digital/analog IO, interface to motion controller, TCP/IP interface or MES communication.
Experience integrating and maintaining robotics into new or existing production sites. Reis, Fanuc, Kuka experience a plus.
Extensive knowledge and experience in CAD, AutoCAD or similar software.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in developing, operating and troubleshooting a wide range of electro-mechanical tools such as conveyors, robots, fluid dispensing, presses, furnaces, vacuum laminators, testers, palletizers, product handling/indexing/positioning, stepper/servo drive systems and man-machine interfaces.
Willingness to work off-hours and overtime when factory needs arise.
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. Multi-task abilities with
Ability to correlate tool and quality problems with material, personnel, equipment and process changes.
Demonstrated use of statistics and trend analysis
Familiarity with OCAPS, DOE, SPC, Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, 5S
Must be able to travel to other sites domestically and internationally, as required, for knowledge transfer and problem solving. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid passport.
Ability to wear necessary personal protection equipment (PPE).
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as you will be working in a team environment that is very data-driven.
