The product engineer is responsible for managing several lines of products from new development through obsolescence utilizing customer feedback when it is available to continually improve product performance, while driving down costs.
Provides engineering product support to sales and manufacturing. Participates in the design and development of new product lines. Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel. Oversees finished product quality and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.

Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Some 3D CAD software experience is a plus.
Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle time sensitive and detail demanding projects.
Interfaces with customers to determine opportunities for product improvement and translates complex needs into technical specifications.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors to define, design and deliver new products, technical solutions, and enhancements that work cohesively and meet the needs of the company, its clients, and the end users.
Provides cost estimates for special engineered products and/or systems.
Communicates quality control plan to the product team and oversees the implementation of the plan.
Coaches sales team and customer service representatives on all technical information and knowledge necessary to communicate with customers.
Contributes in product training seminars and presentations.
Develops and maintains product documentation, product instructions and user guides, product metrics and sales and marketing content strategy.
Coordinates with designers, developers and testers to create functional specifications.
Communicates product improvements to stakeholders and key customers.
May attend trade shows, technical conferences and symposiums to promote the product.
May provide customer support in escalated cases.
Develop standards and documentation for new product designs.
Creatively design products to enhance performance and optimize cost.
Identifies and leads continuous product improvement efforts.
Serve as the internal project manager for any new or existing product design development, by working cross functionally with necessary team members.
Engage in competitive product benchmarking to understand technical and economic advantages of products compared to competitors.
Design for manufacturability in all cases.
Problem solve field product variances.
Prioritize and Complete tasks to a production sche
Education and Experiences
This position requires a good understanding of the general mechanical and thermal engineering sciences.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated competency in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics.
Experiences and or studies in the fundamentals of combustion will be considered a plus.
Turning Concepts into functional equipment requires that the candidate be familiar with a 3D CAD design package (CREO/Pro-E preferred).
The candidate will be expected to specify materials as well as demonstrate knowledge of stress, strain and strengths evaluation methods to assure product durability.
Knowledge with casting design and machining, fabrication design and ceramics will be considered a plus.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CFD analysis (Fluent preferred) as well as FEA analysis.
General proficiency with MS office programs.
Strong problem solving skills.
Willing to travel in support of sales and customer jobs.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
