U. S. Steel has an immediate opening for a Process Control Engineer within the Fairfield Process Control team. This team provides IT solutions for U. S. Steel’s Fairfield Tubular manufacturing facility. The process control engineer must be familiar with plant operations, steel making, pipe producing, and related business processes. A process control engineer has the opportunity to learn new technologies, improve existing processes and create innovative solutions while addressing challenging problems. The variety of areas supported by the process control team creates a wide berth for professional growth. The process control engineer is responsible for control systems, applications, and related devices which advise and control the manufacturing process, inform and alarm operating personnel, and collect and distribute data.
- Engineering or Computer Science degree
- Educational background or experience in core/basic programming concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Exposure to .net development languages (C#, VB.net, ASP.net, etc)
- Web programming experience
- Demonstrated analytical & problem-solving experience
- Proficient with Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with basic relational database concepts
- Visual Studio - C#, VB.net
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with industrial control systems
- PLC/OPC experience
- Experience with Windows Networking concepts
- Experience with Oracle Database
