Responsible for troubleshooting welding processes and applying working knowledge of industry welding codes and specifications.
Maintain code books for both API 1104 and ASME. Know codes thoroughly.
Maintain welder qualifications for multiple API 1104 customers. Ensure continuity of qualifications.
Maintain welder qualifications for ASME welders both pipe/vessel and structural.
Maintain welding procedures for both API 1104 and ASME. Submit to customers as needed.
Apply welding procedures to spool drawings.
Track all rejected welds. Council welders as needed on rejects.
Support in-house welding school.
Schedule and conduct welder testing and procedure qualifications as needed.
Complete weld procedure and welder qualification forms.
Participate in internal welding audits.
Assist estimator with welding/specifications during estimating phase as needed.
Troubleshoot routine welding technique and equipment issues.
Assist in evaluating, proposing, and implementing welding process improvements to increase welding efficiency and quality.
Provide quality checks on completed drawings returning from shop floor.
Work with Project Managers on job build books to ensure accurate information is included.
Network with internal associates, suppliers, and customers for continuous improvement.
Occasional travel to customer and field sites.
Additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering required.
Thorough knowledge of the ASME and API code books.
Ability to obtain and pursue CWI and Level II PT, MT and RT certifications.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
Strong work ethic, high integrity along with a professional demeanor.
Work will involve an office, manufacturing and field setting.
