Location: Kohler, WI
Completes professional engineering assignments of moderately broad scope. Applies mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals by supporting new lighting designs from concept to launch including initial design concepts, component and material selection, prototyping, testing, safety approvals, installation instructions, and production implementation. Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit.
Establish qualification and verification test plans by product category (outdoor, bathroom, non-bathroom).
Conduct print process review (PPR) in conjunction with Quality.
Establish color/finish standards for new lighting finishes.
Manage PCI process including SKUs, Bill of Materials, Drawings & Service Parts loaded into SAP.
Assist in completing installation instructions & specification sheets.
Work with Industrial Design(ID) to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet desired light output.
Facilitate file hand-off to suppliers with ID and Purchasing making sure they receive specification files that are consistent with each other.
Complete verification & Technical Release for Inventory Build (TRIB).
Lead and develop LED fixture designs including specifying and implementing the mechanical system, heat management system, and optical system for new products.
Support Marketing, Program Management, Quality and Sales Teams by establishing & executing testing protocol relevant for a premium brand in the lighting industry.
Participate in defining product specifications, Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design Validation, Product & Process Qualification and Verification
Participate in risk assessment activities and drive abatement activities within cross functional team
Keeps abreast of new technologies and products relative to the decorative lighting industry.
Work with team, suppliers and others to establish project schedules and budgets. Establish and review plans for multiple activities/projects; monitor and take corrective action as schedule impacts occur.

Education & Experience Requirements
Engineering degree from an Accredited institution (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred) with 1 – 4 years engineering experience (preferably in decorative lighting)
Experience in CAD software (CREO preferred)
Strong mechanical aptitude, self-driven and able to work under general project direction, with ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and function in a collaborative environment
Travel up to 20% of the time and International Conference Calls
Professional work experience in Electrical, Consumer Packaged Goods or Solid State Lighting /LED lighting preferred but not required (preferred)
Experience in enterprise resources systems strongly desired (SAP) (preferred)
