In this exciting role as a Packaging Engineer I, you will use multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop sterile and non-sterile medical device packaging in support of strategic plans. You will have responsibility and authority to lead or support the ideation, development, design, validation and manufacturing transfer of product packaging materials for device introductions.
A Day in the Life
Determine packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required to meet overall product life cycle
Facilitate and support evaluations of package systems to ensure compliance with Federal, US and International safety, regulatory and quality standards
Develop package testing protocols, test acceptance criteria, and analyze results
Facilitate packaging design reviews with cross-functional teams
Research, develop and validate packaging process equipment/tooling/fixturing and related documentation to support manufacturing
Provide released product packaging engineering support
Documentation management and/or coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field
Nice to Have
Working knowledge of FDA and International regulations related to packaging. Understanding of applicable ISO, ISTA and ASTM test standards and methods related to package performance testing
Ability to lead, work and communicate effectively. Exercises good judgment when communicating to all levels in the business organization
Ability to use and apply technical principles, theories and concepts in the medical device packaging field
Solid problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Working knowledge of computer aided drafting (CAD)
Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships
