Under the supervision of senior IT staff, position is responsible for supervising the installation and management of the local and wide area network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of SEARHC’s IT assets. This includes design, planning, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. Core responsibilities include advanced TCP/IP routing and switching, network QoS, security planning and monitoring, Internet access and management, network cabling, VOIP telephony and various other communication systems. Position requires frequent travel to remote village locations.
Position requires attention to technical details and the ability to solve complex problems. Experience within the industry, and familiarity with common IT networking technologies and procedures. Poorly configured routers, switches, phone systems and cables can cause system outages impacting patient care and business functions. This position is a high paced, stressful job requiring long periods of work in enclosed and remote sites. Immediate, careful attention to various systems is required to keep them operational. Constant exposure to new and varied systems and concepts require high levels of concentration and retention; significant attention to detail is required. Varied and multiple problems are addressed simultaneously, with interruptions often resulting in additional work requests. Most work is accomplished within a timeline with a deadline. Lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and manual dexterity. Extensive travel including remote village locations. Being organized with the right equipment and materials for the job.
Planning and design of network infrastructure; including acquisition and installation of new equipment and reconfiguration of existing equipment to meet changing organizational needs.
Communication with key stake holders and IT peers to determine needs of the organization. Troubleshoot network outages and performance issues in support of key business processes and core medical services. Communicate with all staff regarding planned outages and downtime.
Install network equipment and physically maintain the spaces and cabling infrastructure. This includes working with other departments, vendors and contractors, and providing clear communication to ensure continued function and efficiency of the overall network.
Monitor and maintain network equipment. This may include installing new revisions of software on equipment or installing and configuring supplementary software to aid in management of overall network, including monitoring and alerts of issues or failures.
Develop and maintain network documentation and policies for security and use of the network.
Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or industry recognized certification required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years of experience in enterprise networking preferred.
CCNA or other certification(s) within the field of an equivalent level
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of IP networking, routing, and switching
Working knowledge of telephony, VOIP, and PSTN
Intermediate computer systems administration skills.
Skills to use network installation tools.
Skills to configure network equipment.
Skills to support different configurations and types of networt equipment
Ability to work well with people.
Ability to learn new systems and technology
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
