Responsibilities
REHAU Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer for our Building Solutions Division at our North American headquarters in Leesburg, VA. This is a technically focused position that will be responsible for project management and engineering of developments focused on products for radiant floor heating, radiant cooling, snow and ice melting, plumbing and fire protection applications.
Specific job responsibilities for the Product Development Engineer include:
Lead product developments of various injection molded, extruded, forged and cast parts.
Develop and evaluate concepts and designs of new products using Solidworks and rapid prototyping
Perform design analyses including theoretical calculations for component fit, tolerance analysis, tolerance stack up, stress calculations, flow calculations and thermal calculations.
Communicate product requirements across internal and external groups
Coordinate product/certification testing and release of new products
Work in all phases of design development, component procurement, assembly, test, validation, manufacturing and sales support
Develop technical information for the product(s)
Interact with Sales team to support the sale of REHAU products in the market
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Minimum of 3 or more years experience working with injection molding, extursion of plastics/polymers or metal forging/turning in product, part or design development
Strong technical ability in product design and development
Demonstrated experience in project management
Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAD tools
Experience in product development, manufacturing processes and quality management systems
Knowledge or back ground in Residential and Commercial Construction practices
Advanced skills in CAD (Solidworks), 3D Printing (prototyping) and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Strong communication, multi-tasking and teamwork skills for collaborating, presenting and reporting
Willingness to travel on occasion to construction sites and or REHAU Manufacturing facilities
Willingness to learn and understand practical installation methods of REHAU systems and products
