The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Education, has an immediate need to staff a Digital Director 2 vacancy in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Digital Director job series describes work involving the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the digital communications program for an agency.
This is highly responsible professional work directing a complex and highly visible digital communications program in an agency Press/Communications office.
You will be responsible for planning, developing, and directing digital communications for an agency including developing the agency's digital strategy, digital communications plan, and website branding guide.
Work involves serving as the agency's website editor, which includes leading content management and website analytical activities; serving as the social media manager by developing and leading the agency's approach for developing and using social media tools based on the agency's mission and goals; serving as the agency's creative director, which includes developing the agency branding guide; and managing digital projects assigned by the Governor's Office.
Work may include supervising Deputy Digital Directors or other positions that assist in developing the agency's digital communications program.
Work is performed independently, and is reviewed by the agency's Press Secretary/communications director, with oversight by the Governor's Office Digital Director, for effectiveness and alignment with the agency's and the commonwealth's communications mission and objectives.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Develops the agency's digital communications program and strategy.
Oversees the implementation of digital technologies.
Serves as the agency website editor responsible for architecting and approving all content, implementing search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, and providing direction to web developers.
Audits experience and implements accessible web and social media standards (WCAG 2), design.
Develops and maintains the social media guide for an agency.
Directs the use of social media platforms and ensures social media use is consistent with agency mission and objectives.
Designs and/or produces digital products including graphics, videos, blog posts, e-newsletters for social media and web use.
Monitors, reviews, and interprets web and social media analytics and develops reporting mechanisms.
Develops and maintains a branding guide for web and digital use.
Recommends and leads social media campaigns, digital marketing campaigns, website applications, and content changes.
Leads Governor's Office-directed projects related to the digital communications program.
Supervises a Deputy Digital Director.
Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Two years as a Digital Director 1; or
Six years of professional communications experience, including four years in digital communications, and a bachelor's degree; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
