Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Component and Sustainability Engineer to join the Data Power & Control Team in Reno, NV. The Component and Sustainability Engineer will independently evaluate, test, and document components in accordance with Server Technology engineering standards. This position will provide proactive assistance to identify and resolve component sustainability issues along with providing timely and accurate test reports and information. The Component and Sustainability Engineer will have a background in electrical/electronic engineering to support component engineering and sustainability analysis of Server Technology’s products. The Component and Sustainability Engineer is expected to perform job duties quickly, efficiently and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures and goals.
What Will You Do?
Perform in house laboratory evaluations of new and existing components.
Develop appropriate test procedures with Validation and Test department to ensure product compliance
Research new and alternate electrical components regarding function, availability, sustainability, and safety certification
Assist Engineering Services in generation of new component Specification and Source Control documentation
Maintain Approved Vendors List in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Perform or assist in coordinating the qualification testing of components, circuit designs, and products
Maintain Company’s environmental compliance database
Ensure product and component compliance to the Legrand Environmental Material Requirements (EMR)
Develop environmental and sustainability compliance reports to support internal and external customers
Manage engineering documentation in support of new product development in compliance with relevant policies and standards
Create reports for European WEEE (e-waste) program
Support execution of engineering changes, lifecycle changes, and document changes prior to component release
Perform environmental risk analysis of new designs to support Legrand Eco-Design program

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Electrical Engineering or comparable experience or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience providing engineering support for electronic components; previous experience with UL/CSA 60950 and EN 60950 standards for Information Technology a plus
AC power distribution knowledge a plus.
Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access).
Proficient with Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management applications
Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.
