Job Summary:
TPC Group is seeking a Sr Engineer, Process Safety Management for our Port Neches facility. The ideal candidate will be a PSM subject matter expert, with direct PHA (Process hazard analysis)/LOPA facilitation experience, who thrives in a collaborative, open, team environment and is driven by the opportunity to make an impact.

This position will be part of the site PSM team with direct responsibility for providing support to plant operations through continuous development and improvements of the fourteen (14) elements of Process Safety Management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal and process safety, for the protection of company assets, employees, and the public.
Provide technical support and guidance to support operations and engineering in implementing sustainable process safety programs and culture through knowledge of process safety practices, PSM/RMP, safety& engineering standards, and practical implementation methods.
Ability to recognize hazards associated with chemical processes and equipment
Accountable to schedule, coordinate, document and lead PHA/LOPA revalidations maintaining the 5-year window required for revalidation of each study. Lead and/or coordinate completion of project PHAs. Review prior PHA/LOPA studies for weaknesses and opportunities.
Lead/facilitate incident investigations.
Continually drive effectiveness of established Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Review processes.
Interpret P&IDs and other process safety information.
Track and maintain corrective actions stemming from site PHAs, incident investigations, compliance audits, insurance audits, site safety assessments and other PSM/H&S activities. Review and verify appropriate closure for corrective action items. Report monthly key performance indicators for continued progress in timely corrective action closure.
EHSS Audit Schedule Administration– provide site audit schedule reminders, schedule auditors, manage audit reports and action lists– participate on audits as a qualified HSS and Process Safety auditor.
Ability to read and understand federal, state and local requirements associated with equipment design and integrity.
Stays current with emerging issues related to Process Safety Management.
Develop and implement key performance indicators to track the progress and health of facility PSM programs.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (chemical or mechanical engineering a plus) chemical industry experience (5 years EHSS experience, including basic process safety knowledge)
7+ years PHA facilitation experience, including experience leading chemical facility PHA and LOPA studies
Must understand Level of Protection Analysis (LOPA), including but not limited to Safety Instrumented Systems, Independent Protection Layers, Instrumented Safety Function, Safety Integrity Level, and Risk Reduction Factors
Must understand the concept of Inherently Safer Design
Must understand facility siting, including siting of temporary buildings and structures
Practical experience in use of PHA software (PHA Works, PHA Pro, etc.)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior EHSS auditing experience
Dakota software experience
Organizational skills
Good verbal and communication skills
Ability to perform multiple functions and tasks simultaneous
Good administrative skills; development and completion of checklists, filing and thorough documentation of tasks performed
