Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Infrastructure Operations Engineer. The Infrastructure Operations division of the Information Technology Department is hiring an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join its team. Salisbury University has a diverse campus consisting of multiple datacenters, over 300 servers including physical and VMWare virtual guests, 2 Petabytes of storage, a fully deployed enterprise backup environment, over 20,000 network ports utilizing Aruba, Juniper, Splunk, and Palo Alto Networks equipment to provide a robust, secure, and efficient computing environment for the campus community.
Primary Job Duties: Design, implement, and troubleshoot infrastructure operations systems and software, including internal and external routing domains, virtual private networks, VOIP and telephony solutions, packet based capture and shaping technologies, core, distribution, and access level infrastructure, wireless RF capacity and coverage layouts, wireless core controller architecture, infrastructure onboarding and authentication, and automated monitoring and graphing solutions. Monitor, analyze and develop measures to maximize infrastructure performance and availability to meet academic, administrative, and student requirements. Assist in the engineering, implementation, and coordination of a wide variety of both wired and wireless infrastructure activities and projects. Control, evaluate and execute corrective actions to protect the University from cyber-attacks and data loss.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience.
Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Must have an understanding of infrastructure architecture principles, design models, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience engineering, configuring, and maintaining infrastructure systems, VOIP, and security equipment, solutions, and programs is preferred.
This is a full-time, exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
