Food Commercialization Engineer at Chew includes expertise in the following areas (but not limited to):

Extrusion, Chips, Cookies, Crackers
High moisture, sauce, dips
Breakfast type foods (Bars, Cereal/Granola)
Chocolate & Confectionary
Shelf-stable beverages

Develop, document, and validate comprehensive scale-up/technical commercialization plans for new products across multiple food and beverage categories
Provide deep technical process/manufacturing expertise from ideation through to full commercial production
Develop and ensure adherence to various SOPs relating to scaling and launching new food products
Mentor and coach more junior technical team members
Apply advanced scientific and/or engineering principles to problems and issues with a disciplined, systematic approach
Create and execute detailed project plans with timelines, and manage all projects and deliverables to support wider business direction and deadlines
Take an independent and disciplined approach to organizing work activity, prioritizing tasks, and analysis; will also seek out additional projects and activities to drive the business forward
Hands on leadership and participation in technical organization and execution of plant trials for new products
Expectation to remain up to date on new process technology developments
Maintain a network of external co-manufacturers

Bachelor of Science in fields of Food Engineer, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Similar.
8+ Years of experience
Extensive experience in food process engineering & unit operations design.
Advanced theoretical understanding & practical experience with applied food process design.
Robust experience in translating bench processed to pilot- and full-scale food production.
Comprehensive understanding of pilot- and full-scale HACCP plans as pertains to scaled operations.
Experience with new product & process development trials, process qualification trials, and process validation trials.
Extensive network of unit operations suppliers &/or co-manufacturers for scaling bench processes.

Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a cross-functional team, including adherence to core values within a dynamic company culture
Detail-oriented, organized, & effective at communicating food processes in clear & concise manner.
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting - you do what you say you will do
Demonstrated high level of personal initiative, and a natural sense of inquisitiveness and curiosity
Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment, and to balance changing priorities to drive key projects to completion
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proficiency in the use of computer systems and software
