Andersen is looking for an accomplished, growth orientated, driven and collaborative associate to accommodate our Field Applications Engineering team within Research Development and Innovation. This team player and engineer will be both leading research projects in a collaborative environment as well as interfacing with external customers to harvest rich product and process information that will fuel product and process improvements from an installation perspective. Travel (10-15%)
This role will both manage projects and in certain situations be asked to lead teams of engineers and technicians as well as train and teach technically in house and in the field. In addition, job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing innovative customer-focused design concepts and solutions that drive towards easier to install products
Delivering design solutions focused on installation that are based on engineering principles
Technical documentation including writing specifications
Developing base and innovative installation methods for all enterprise products
Drive installation material and installation labor cost reduction initiatives
Field service support
Drive testing of new and existing methods and materials for installation with the eye for improvement and innovation.
Perform hands on tests of materials and methods; start to finish
Incorporate knowledge and data into specifications.
Interface with different enterprise partners to expand and improve the understanding of installation using a specification based approach.
As a Subject Matter Expert on installation, can train on Installation Methods and Materials.
Managing installation methods and materials projects from inception to a commercialization point through T-Gate and PDP processes.
Can interface with internal and external customers to communicate elements of installation putting the companies best foot forward in a variety of venues and situations.
Design and Technical Reviews
Customer information gathering.
BS in Engineering – Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace or equivalent engineering experience.
2-5 years’ experience in window or door installation / construction.
Strong communication skills
Technical writing ability
Self- motivated with a strong intellectual curiosity
Strong analytical and computational skills with an eye for innovation
5+ years’ experience in both installation of windows and doors or construction.
Technical writing of procedures and processes in form of specifications.
Can train groups on technical topics.
