The Wastewater Operator 1 position offers a dynamic, fulfilling work environment to high performers. As a part of a Gallo-recognized and rewarded “high performance work team,” you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving an innovative wastewater facility at Gallo Winery – Livingston under direct supervision.

What You Will Do

Operate:
Monitor automated controls and maintain system operation through SCADA and manual inputs
Collect water samples and conduct predefined laboratory tests to determine system health
Operate pumps, valves, chlorinators, telemetry controls, sludge presses and other water and wastewater flow regulating controls and equipment

Maintain:
Perform minor maintenance duties ensuring the optimized operation of the wastewater plant
Report system malfunctions to supervisor or maintenance engineers
Maintain grounds of wastewater plant through regular rounds and inspection

Improve:
Partake in various continuous improvement projects led by direct supervisor or other site engineers to establish a Six Sigma level system
What You Need

High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate
Six educational points AND 1 year of full-time experience as an Operator in Training (OIT) at a government or privately operated wastewater facility or 1 year full-time experience at the Gallo Wastewater facility as an Operator in Training (OIT), AND have taken and passed a State of California Grade 1 Wastewater Operator certification test
Ability to work with caustic chemicals to execute some job functions
Ability to work day, swing or graveyard shifts
Ability to climb ladders and inspect the tops of tanks
What Will Set You Apart

Experience operating and improving SCADA systems and components
Knowledge of chemical analysis and laboratory tests required for wastewater treatment; knowledge in the use of laboratory equipment commonly used in a wastewater treatment plant laboratory
Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions
