Purpose of Position
Interviews will be conducted within two (2) weeks of referred list.
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions.
Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for the review and analysis of engineering principles and practices that apply to utilities regulated pursuant to the Public Utility Act and New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) rules.
How does it get done?
- Review engineering plans, specifications and cost estimates and prepare testimony in support of Staff`s position.
- Review utility reports, management reports and filings and prepare analysis in support of Staff`s position.
- Provide written and oral testimony on engineering issues and stand for cross examination.

New Mexico Residents
Experience with principles and practices of engineering as related to utilities.
Experience with reviewing engineering reports, documents, drawings, cost estimates, plans and specifications to determine compliance with utility standards and regulations.
Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline and two (2) years of progressive experience under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer. Must possess FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification by NMBLPEPS.
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Business Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment background investigation.
Reference check and Driver's License verification are required and employment is conditional pending results.
Must possess FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification by the New Mexico Board of Licensed Professional Engineers
Work is performed in an office setting. Exposure to:
Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Communication with the general public and public agencies on a frequent basis. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to meet multiple deadlines. Occasional statewide and out of state travel maybe required.
