Embedded Software Engineer
Design, develop, verify and validate software systems for airborne hardware

The Software Engineer will be responsible for development and documentation of high & low level requirements, design of software systems, embedded firmware programming, product life-cycle support, and documentation of fuel systems products, using an approved FAA and/or MIL-STD process, for commercial and military fuel management and fuel quantity gauging systems.
Application areas include digital signal processing and data distribution. Duties may include: software documentation, design simulations; unit/board level test verification and validation; engineering analysis; systems integration support; and system design and test documentation. The Software Engineer shall be familiar with aviation communication protocols (including ARINC), and military and commercial standards concerning airborne systems design and equipment certification. The Software Engineer will understand the DO-178 certification processes, as well as the different type certificates that are issued by certifying authorities to signify the airworthiness of an aircraft manufacturing design.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
Technical contribution in all aspects of airborne software certification, including design tools, code generation tools, compilers/linkers, libraries, test tools, and structural coverage tools.
Software design, development, verification and validation.
Participation on development project teams, which may include liaison with Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) and civil certification regulators in completion of certification requirements
May participate in development projects as overall technical lead, coordinating with Project Manager to ensure customer technical requirements are understood and accomplished.
Provide Design Assurance Level support on LMS software projects that shall adhere to DO-178, DO-278, DO-254, DO-330, ARP4754A and ARP4761 compliance with the applicable airworthiness regulations for the software aspects of airborne systems.
Work with other department members, provide design analysis of parts, components, assemblies, subassemblies and systems.
Consult and collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers throughout the design process, and especially at software-hardware interface
Support the implementation and maintenance of tools to support software development, including formal testing, validation/verification, and all associated documentation.

Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Computer Science.
Experience: 3-5 years as an embedded software engineer in the aerospace industry; working familiarity with electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
