As Mechanical Engineer at Manitowoc Ice – you will execute detailed design and development of components, assemblies and subsystems used in commercial and residential ice machines as well as other related products. Responsibilities will include material selection, part design, detailed design calculations or computer models. Projects will be in the areas of product cost reduction and warranty/customer issue resolution. Responsibilities will include the design of parts and assemblies using plastic molds, machining, laser cut and component assemblies.

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this position is based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin*.

Essential Job Functions:
Schedule and manage small projects. Understand relationships inside and outside engineering (process, manufacturing, financial and marketing).
Detailed part design - stack-ups, GD&T, using process inputs and/or engineering tools and methods (hand calculations, computer modeling, Finite Elements).
Detailed part verification, validation and reliability testing.
Support product quality resolving issues and demands from customers – service requirements, manufacturing requirements and improvements, and cost reduction.
Optimizing parts and assemblies per manufacturing or service requests (assembly, molding, and machining).
Develop and utilize supplier capabilities to develop components and subsystems. Incorporate vendor input for tooling requirements, materials, etc. in the part designs.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; with a minimum of one-year experience in part and assembly design, new product development experience is preferred.
Must have strong technical skills.
Experience with cross functional teams required and stage gate product development process is preferred.
Understand manufacturing processes (molding, machining, assembling, stamping, etc.)
Creo/Pro-E proficiency is a plus.
Understanding of standards and agency regulations is a plus.
Experience with specification and validation tests.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to think and problem solve analytically and creatively - use intuition and experience to complement data.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to communicate and connect with individuals effectively – both written and verbal.
Teamwork orientation - contribute to building a positive team spirit, able to build group commitments to goals and objectives.
Adapt well to changes in the work environment.
Innovative - displays original thinking and creativity and meets challenges with resourcefulness.
Ability to travel – up to 20% of the time.
