Job Title: Structural/Civil Engineer
Reports to: Mgr, Engineer
Scope of Responsibility: A Structural/Civil Engineer to join our team in a designer position. We provide design, manufacturing and integration of pre-cast concrete equipment enclosure, skid and shelter solutions for the energy storage, solar, utility power and telecommunications industries. This position will be directly involved with all levels of product design from concept to final installation
Design development for the growing energy storage industry based upon product requirements and applicable codes. Design elements including lifting, high seismic, high wind, deflagration venting, and foundation support.
Applying engineering principles to prepare calculations for concrete cabinet and shelter structures. Initiate, modify, and approve structural drawing.
Design energy-efficient and environmentally sound structures.
Review drawings for production feasibility and cost impact.
Recommend/implement drawing changes for the reduction in production time and ease of assembly.
Recommend design and production changes to meet cost targets.
Recommend/initiate the production process changes to improve productivity.
Bachelor s Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
Professional Engineer Licensure
Lean Certification a plus
Knowledge of telecommunication standards a plus.
Knowledge of energy storage standards a plus.
5+ years of experience.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Knowledge of CAD systems and efficient use. Experience in AutoCAD/Inventor/Revit/Solidworks a plus.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in a cabinet, tubular and pole construction.
Knowledge of welding and associated codes.
Knowledge of sheet metal forming.
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Must work well in a group or team environment.
Ability to communicate information through speech and in writing to be easily understood by all personnel, internal and external.
Ability to stay abreast of industry trends, best practice, and customer standards.
Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedure and system.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed
Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of fingers, hands, and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching
Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and a safety-minded individual
Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
