Sunburst Chemicals is a Minnesota based manufacturer, distributor and retailer of the highest quality laundry, warewash and general sanitizing products in the industry.
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer based out of our corporate office in Bloomington, MN. The Project Engineer will report to the VP of New Product Development and be responsible for product engineering to assist the company in meting growth and profit objectives.
I. Product Development and Support
A. Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installations, processing, machining and material handling.
B. Test prototype systems to determine effectiveness, limitations and required modifications.
C. Adapt machine or equipment design to production conditions.
D. Conduct cost savings and product enhancement reviews and implement changes required to meet cost reduction and product performance goals.
E. Perform documentation of operating instructions, vendor manuals and company quality records.
II. Product Evaluation
A. Train Technical Services department in use of new systems.
B. Train dispenser production employees on how to assemble and test new dispensers and accessories.
C. Monitor field testing on products in the initial testing stage and direct expanded field test stage of development.
D. Maintain documentation control of operating instructions, vendor manuals and company quality records.
E. Communicate the results of field evaluations to all appropriate parties.
F. Serve as a resource to the dispenser production department on vendor selection, dispenser enhancements, assembly improvements and other related issues.
G. Assist in maintaining quality standards
III. General Support
A. Assist in plant production regarding equipment design, repair and automation.
B. Assist Marketing with design and photography projects as requested.
C. Assist in vendor management relations
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
5 + years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite Applications, Solid Works, FastCAD and publishing software systems
FEA experience with stress analysis
Experience automating processes or troubleshooting automation
Excellent communication skills
Ability to travel to field sites within the US
