We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Developer Relations team which drives API maturity, delivers integrations and SDKs, and cultivates a thriving ecosystem of developers. The public APIs of VMware Carbon Black enable customers to integrate the products into their environment. The starting point for engineers wanting to integrate their product or environment with VMware Carbon Black is the Developer Network (https://developer.carbonblack.com/).
Your role will include being a developer advocate to cultivate internal and external communities, creating and sustaining custom integrations and supporting advanced customers and partners to build applications that leverage our data and capabilities. The ideal candidate is someone who understands both security stacks and software engineering. Strong communication skills are a must, as this position involves equal parts development, delivering live and recorded demonstrations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
Promote the integration capabilities and grow the developer community through virtual and physical conferences – be an evangelist for integration with VMware Carbon Black products
Engage with platform architects to influence API design towards both UI and integration scenarios
Lead development of new integrations and SDKs
Mentor and lead engineering staff to develop technical expertise, quality engineering practices and engagement with other team
Collaborate with product management, engineering and customer facing teams to deliver the right solutions.
What you’ll bring:
Experience and a desire to engage with and grow the developer community through multiple channels
7 plus years experience in designing and delivering commercial software products.
Expert level programming capability in Python and at least one other language.
Experience creating RESTful APIs, setting standards and designing with the API user experience in mind
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work broad range of stakeholders
Ability to troubleshoot issues live with partners and customers
Experience with security stack use cases and integrations is highly desirable
Proficient in open source platforms and technologies, including using GitHub for sharing open source code, continuous integration and testing platforms, and automated build/deployment systems
