The DevOps Engineer position is vital to providing operational support for key business processes across the University of Minnesota. In this role, you will design, develop, and support critical infrastructure for the University’s workload automation, secure file transfer, and integration platform applications. The ideal candidate will take a full-stack view of system resilience, reliability, and security and bring skills in automation and monitoring.

Core Job Responsibilities:
Application Support and Maintenance

Provide advanced operational support and troubleshooting of complex, escalated issues for critical University workload automation, secure file transfer, and integration platform applications.
Perform application security patching, upgrades, implementation of new technologies.
Support operational efficiency through continuous process improvements. Eliminating toils, expanding automation, process redesign, and documentation.
Maintain system resiliency and reliability by building highly observable systems. Enhance infrastructure and application monitoring and alerts to meet Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to identify opportunities for modernization at all stack levels, working across teams to leverage emerging technologies and practices.
Apply infrastructure-as-code methodologies across configuration and infrastructure using a combination of scripting languages and other automation toolkits (e.g. Ansible, GitHub, Rundeck).
Create internal and external facing standard operating procedures. Document team procedures, flowchart, diagrams.
