The Riverside County Flood Control department has multiple opportunities for an Engineering Technician I to support the Surveying and Mapping division located in Riverside.
The selected candidates for the Engineering Technician I positions will be a part of an innovative field survey crew and will be responsible for preparing department trucks and equipment, preparing materials necessary for staking or boundary work, setting various types of survey marks, checking cut sheets and field notes, and assisting staff as needed. The incumbents for this position will possess interest and experience in outdoor work/activities, mathematics, physical/earth sciences, construction processes, and maps and blueprints.
The incumbents for this position will also possess experience using software and electronic devices such as: consumer level GPS measurement devices, 3D printing/modeling, UAV/drone photography, coding or programming, and an affinity for and demonstrated knowledge of personal/handheld computers. This position requires being outdoors in all types of weather conditions and will have minimal office duties.
Competitive candidates for this position will possess a valid Certificate of Registration as an Engineer-in-Training or Surveyor-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
