WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The primary responsibility of the Logistics Engineer is to support the logistics operations strategy through administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) software.
The individual ensures the WMS system is utilized to provide maximum operational efficiencies which align to customer expectations and business Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The position works directly with Corporate IT to ensure alignment to Corporate standards and system interfaces.
The Logistics Engineer, works in close collaboration with Operations to develop, strengthen, and sustain daily Operations and business processes.
Monitors and ensures quality and integrity of WMS data and process structure.
Administers the WMS software including requirements gathering, developing functional specs, performing WMS system configuration, conducting unit, integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing, system integrations, and system documentation; coordinates software enhancements and necessary maintenance.
Identifies and resolves to issues arising in the functional operation of the WMS software in collaboration with internal or external resources.
Provides WMS solutions in support of changing business requirements.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of end-to-end business process with relation to WMS.
Operations and Business Processes:
Reports operation performance to established KPI’s.
Documents current state business processes and work instructions.
Designs and develops of future state improved business processes.
Leads operational strategies to maximize efficiency and storage of product put-away, storage, and picking processes.
Develops curriculum and conducts WMS user training.
Ensures optimal performance of order flow and cube utilization by collaborating with management and process improvement department to design warehouse layout, material flow, material storage, and define labor requirements.
Performs all job functions is a safe manner and maintains safety awareness.
Reports known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices and/or conditions to supervisor.
Support ergonomics and safety within distribution facility.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline required.
Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills.
Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in material control or industrial engineering preferred.
Previous experience in engineering /warehouse layout design preferred.
APICS, CPIM, or CIRM certification is preferred.
Previous SAP experience preferred.
A strong understanding of best-in-class distribution center processes preferred.
