The Sourcing Engineer will lead the development of commodity visioning, strategies, and implementation efforts. This position will focus on power supplies, connectors, wire/fiber and harness-based commodities and supply chains.
Travel as required to develop a deep understanding of the existing supply chain.
Develop and implement global supply chain strategies to support global factories, tiered product families, and diverse product specifications.
Develop request for proposals and negotiate contracts as needed, keeping Daktronics best interests in mind.
Understand inputs into your commodities and global pressures impacting them. Develop and implement strategies to minimize negative impacts.
Continuously update and improve industry and technical knowledge for assigned commodities.
Provide technical expertise to engineering teams and proactively participate in Product Development and Knowledge Center discussions.
Continuously communicate and reinforce the importance of sourcing strategies to promote a robust supply chain to benefit the whole company.
Manage supplier performance for assigned commodities around quality, cost, delivery, service level and technology.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers for the mutual benefit of both parties.
Develop and maintain effective relationships within Daktronics departments: i.e. engineering, factory material managers, buyers, quality, customer service, and others as needed.
Support the implementation of Materials strategies relative to Lean manufacturing.
Insure data problems are identified and resolved. Must maintain accurate systems information in support of company operations.
Perform related change management duties for assigned commodities.
Lead/assist in developing strategies for life cycle management of assigned commodities.
Gain protection for Daktronics on Legal and Business matters through signed supplier agreements.
Become knowledgeable of and follow company procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet Daktronics growth and customer expectations.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related degree is required.
Experience in power supply design and application preferred, with power and signal distribution experience.
Willingness and ability to learn.
Computer software proficiency to include: Windchill and Microsoft Office. Ability to learn Daktronics computer systems and software.
May require international travel on a 3-6 month basis.
Manufacturing and LEAN experience is preferred.
Fluent in English, written and verbal. Mandarin language skills helpful. Communicate effectively in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.
Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle record will be checked.
Holds valid passport or has ability to obtain valid passport.
