The Honest Company is looking for a Packaging Engineer who will act as the packaging development point of contact for existing and new product development projects for specified Honest categories. The Packaging Engineer will strategize and execute the development of brand categories and management of the packaging program, and will be responsible for implementing packaging programs, processes, and protocols optimized for both e-commerce and offline retail platforms.
What you'll do:
Coordinate packaging development plans and vendor relationship management
Work with vendors to source all required samples for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
Assist in determining innovative packaging solutions to improve form, fit, function and manufacturability that are within the cost of good targets and production lead times
Coordinate the development and implementation of packaging specifications by leveraging internal and external resources to expedite the process
Identify innovative cost saving opportunities and continuous packaging improvements
Manage relationships with Operations, Retail, and Fulfillment to ensure on-time delivery of projects to market
Analyze category, brand and competitive trends and dynamics leading to key conclusions, implications, and recommended action plans
Coordinate activities and demonstrate competency with vendors and contract manufacturers
Act as a Subject Matter Expert regarding Paper/Pulp, Corrugate, Metals, Decorations, Laminated films, Blow molding, Injection Molding, Thermoforming, etc

What you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Technology/Science, Engineering or equivalent
2-4 years of experience in packaging development in the consumer products space
Knowledge of packaging technologies in diapers, personal care, home care or beauty packaging
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance principles (e.g. CQV)
Experience using pallet software TOPS and CAPE
General knowledge of CAD (i.e. Solidworks and ArtiosCAD)
General knowledge of statistical software to interpret data (e.g. Mini tabs)
