Primary Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the design, development, installation and support of new and existing manufacturing and robotic equipment and processes, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities, and resolving equipment performance issues through the use of automation and controls systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop or use existing specifications to design electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and drawings;
Recommend system requirements needed to increase capacity, reduce costs and realize project feasibility;
Modify, maintain, and repair automation and control equipment and systems to ensure functionality and to support operations as needed;
Recommend and select robotic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic equipment, materials, controls, components, and systems to meet functional specifications;
Develop applications or modifications for automation and controls equipment to improve performance and meet needed safety requirements such as ANSI, RIA and OSHA;
Analyze system requirements, capacity, costs, and needs to determine feasibility of project and develop system plans;
Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layouts;
Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment;
Design, install and program PLC systems as needed to support automation and facility;
Troubleshoot electrical wiring, boards, HMI, displays, relay logic, control, and safety circuits;
Support preventative and predictive maintenance on all equipment;
Drives continuous improvement through research of new technologies, benchmarking and best practices;
Provide training, direction and support to all personnel as needed to fulfill the needs of the organization and department;
Communicates with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards;
Provide regular updates and feedback on status of projects, such as schedule and budget attainment;
Travel and support all Rosenboom facilities and attend required and authorized training;
Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates;
Is a productive member of the Rosenboom team and adheres to, promotes and enforces all Rosenboom policies, including safety requirements/procedures, in order to ensure a safe working environment for all Rosenboom employees; and,
Habits of good attendance and punctuality are an essential responsibility of all Rosenboom job positions.

Maintains technical communication with appropriate Rosenboom personnel.
Minimum Physical Requirements Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, move about the facility, use hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls, bend, and/or twist. The employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision demands include the ability to see details at a close range, with the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet but may be moderate when in the production area. The employee will occasionally be exposed to hazardous equipment with high voltage. The job requires working indoors in a controlled and uncontrolled climate. The duties of this job require the familiar use of all required personnel protection equipment.
Desired Education 4 Year Degree in Related Field
Desired Degree Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Desired Major Automation Controls Engineering
Desired Job Experience Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of a 4 year post-secondary degree in Instrumentation, Automation, Integration or a related field; and,
3-5 years of relative experience, preferred.
Certifications Required Training/Certifications/Licenses:
On-site training specific to job responsibilities; and,
Continuing education as made available and/or required by Rosenboom.
Other Qualifications Other:
Employee is expected to work full shifts with the possibility of some emergency non-shift hours, as appropriate to the responsibilities of the job;
Employee is expected to become familiar with work area and general plant layout;
Commitment to high standards of workmanship, the production of quality products and continuous quality improvement is an expectation of all Rosenboom positions;
Employee may be mentored by an experienced employee, as assigned by his/her direct manager; and,
Includes travel by company vehicle to other Rosenboom facilities.
