JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
The Robotics Engineer will utilize their knowledge of electrical and electronic circuitry and mechanical engineering to develop robotic systems. This includes working closely beside engineers to design, test, improve, and manufacture automated mechanical equipment and its components. The person selected for this role will be an ABB Robot Expert with experience in ABB RobotStudio and IRC5 Controllers.
Integrate robotics with peripherals, such as welders, controllers, or other equipment.
Make system device lists or event timing charts.
Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
Design end-of-arm tooling.
Design, prototype and manage build and timeline new robotic weld fixturing.
Analyze and evaluate robotic systems or prototypes.
Install, calibrate, operate, or maintain robots.
Conduct research on robotic technology to create new robotic systems or system capabilities.
Configure and test new robot cells.
Document robotic application development, maintenance, or changes.
Provide technical support for robotic systems.
Supervise, technologists, technicians, or other engineers.
Review or approve designs, calculations, or cost estimates.
Write algorithms or programming code for ad hoc robotic applications.
Create back-ups of robot programs or parameters.
Process or interpret signals or sensor data.
Plan mobile robot paths and teach path plans to robots.
Debug robotics programs.
Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of robotic mechanisms, components, or systems, such as planetary rovers, multiple mobile robots, reconfigurable robots, or man-machine interactions.
Design robotic systems, such as advanced displays, advanced sensing, robotic platforms, computer vision, or telematics systems.
To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1) Engineering and Technology - Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering with concentration on Robotics preferred. Four years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment utilizing robotic technology and applications. Must be an ABB Robotics Expert. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
2) Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
3) Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
4) Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
5) Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
6) Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
7) Physics - Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
8) English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
9) Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
10) Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
11) Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
