This position is responsible for the research, design, and specification of automation projects from concept though final detail drawings.
Ensure automation is designed with user safety as a number one priority.
Design automation systems from the ground up including end-of-arm tooling, electrical systems and controllers, and any peripheral equipment and fixturing.
Develop clear and complete drawings, and utilize Creo-Pro Engineer and KeyCreator effectively.
Understand the scope of the project - design parameters and requirements, budget, and objectives.
Work with vendors on required equipment needs and specs.
Independently work with all AY McDonald resources to complete project work and solve problems.
Think outside the box of modern manufacturing to develop new automation and manufacturing concepts
Design experiments to utilize AY McDonald engineering lab equipment or automation test cell to obtain relevant results.
Research new technologies and procedures relative to automation and controls that could be utilized to improve all processes.
Firm understanding of manufacturing processes used across industries
Effectively balance and complete multiple projects per company priority schedule individually and departmentally.
Requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technologies, or similar
Two - five years experience with robotics, automation, or PLC programming.
Knowledge of machining operations, lean manufacturing, and automation equipment is required
Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
