Develop and code prototype models/programs that assist in the analytic screening of the toughest problems facing the Department of Defense. Serve as a programmer/modeler on a dynamic team working out of our Vienna office and the Government site supporting multiple projects for DoD clients.
Group W is home to one of the best software engineering team developing modeling and simulation applications for the Department of Defense. These applications employ a wide variety of technologies and disciplines including: computer science, discrete event simulation, operations research, relational database, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, graphical user interface and data visualization. The software engineering process includes formal software configuration management, coding standards and peer reviews.
Develop software using open source tools on Linux operating systems. The software will be developed iteratively with design requirements from DoD clients
Support software development on Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows operating systems
Consult and coordinate with team members on system design and functionality
Employ in-depth knowledge of modeling/Operations Research techniques to inform a variety of analyses, wargames, exercises, and experiments.
Work independently and collaboratively on assessments supporting capability trades, systems trades, force structure, and Service-specific studies.
DoD Secret Clearance
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or degree in Mathematics, Physics or any technical degree with a passion for developing software
At least two years of progressive programming experience.
Experience in developing models with at least one of the programming languages, Python, C#, C++, Perl and MATLAB
Experience in the analysis, development and implementation of software
DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
Master's Degree from an accredited university in Operations Research, Computer Science, or Mathematics
Experience performing and/or building campaign modeling and analysis using campaign simulations like STORM, Thunder, and JICM
Experience operating a Unix/Linux operating system
Experience with JMP, R, SQL, and VBA
Prior military experience
Familiarity with theater OPLANs and/or Defense Planning Scenarios
Experience with the following software (or software that provides the same functionality): gcc, MySQL, GTK+, XML, bison, Microsoft Office API, OpenMap, CVS, gdb
