Exmark Manufacturing, a division of The Toro Company, is looking for an Associate Engineer / Designer to join our dynamic engineering team at our Beatrice, NE location. The ideal candidate is a strong team player possessing a passion for mechanical and electronic system design. Problem solving, innovation and resourcefulness will be put to use developing products and features of high value to professional landscape contractors and consumers.
Design of components and systems using 3D CAD for new or revised products in a dynamic team environment. Assist development lab team in building and evaluating prototypes. Control bills of materials and drawings through ECM processes. Use DFMA principals and work with manufacturing team to insure product assembly metrics are met. Work with product assembly and sourcing teams to diagnose and resolve production issues. Meet established design objectives and schedules on assigned projects. Assist in defining project requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create innovative, high value designs. Perform engineering analysis to predict the behavior of the proposed designs. Specify components and systems. Ensure that designs comply with all applicable industry safety standards and any applicable company specific standards.
Responsible for insuring that drawings and specifications are accurate and complete.
Coordinate with sourcing team in the acquisition of components and systems for prototype and production use.
Provide information to develop project schedule and budget as well as product cost. Executes to plan developed and assists in the control of the project.
Collaborate with design engineers, marketing team members, research engineers, designers, and others on proposed product designs. May be responsible for directing the work of designers, drafters, contract/consulting personnel, and others.
Consult with and update all product development team members including test engineering, design team, operations/manufacturing, sales, and marketing to maintain alignment between design efforts and project metrics.
Work with test engineering team to develop tests simulating the requirements of the customer. Evaluate test data and develop design revisions to offer solutions to any outstanding issues. Work with Manufacturing, Test, and Quality Control to insure components or assemblies meet specified requirements in the lab or on the assembly line where necessary.
Stay current with new technological developments, components, concepts, materials, manufacturing processes, or the competitive environment which would affect the design or design processes of current and future product lineup.
Provide current product support to areas such as but not exclusively: Legal, Test, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service.
Education and Experience:
Pursuing or graduate of an accredited four-year STEM degree program. Or:
Graduate of an accredited technical school (two-year course) with 2 – 5 years of practical experience.
Mobile or Agricultural Equipment experience a plus.. ECU or microcontroller experience a plus. Spreadsheet / Database experience a plus.
