WSP is currently initiating a search for a Geological/Geomechanics Engineer for our Rapid City, SD office. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Evaluating the integrity on a wide range on injection wells, ranging from gas and liquid storage cavern wells developed in evaporite and shale formations, depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs wells, and depleted aquifers wells. -Utilizing conepts of fluid mechanics, geomechanics, and thermodynamics to design subsurface storage and mining wells. -Develop technical reports, illustrations, and presentations that concisely convely advanced concepts associated with engineering and geology. -Ability to work independently to complete a wide range of unique engineering projects associated with subsurface storage and mining. -Management of projects with a gross revenue of less than $500,000. 0 to 3 years of experience in the working with concepts in the fields of structural mechanics, thermodynamics, geomechanics, geology,and numerical methods.
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in a field of engineering, physics, or geology.
The ability to learn advanced concepts and convey these to the general public, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Basic computer programming skills with interpreted (MATLAB, Python, Julia, etc.) and/or compiled (FORTRAN, C, etc.) languages.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Fundamental understanding of numerical methods and algorithms for obtaining solutions to physical problems and statistics.
Basic knowledge in the fields of continuum mechanics, constitutive equations, and poromechanics.
Ability to manage and be the technical lead on numerous projects simultaneously.
