  • Develop new packaging designs and offer improvements on existing designs for cost reduction, performance enhancements, innovations, etc. This includes primary, secondary and shipping packaging
  • Work with vendors as well as internal team on the design to make sure packaging fits with the company's marketing and branding
  • Work with suppliers to create and produce high quality packaging prototypes that will be efficient and cost effective
  • Complete packaging test fit and ship tests
  • Establish/maintain packaging vendors relationships
  • Support company/customer sustainability initiatives
  • Develop/Maintain comprehensive packaging library with all sample and active products
  • Review obsolescence/slow moving inventory for repurpose opportunities
  • Participate in production pilot/trials to make sure packaging is functioning well in production
  • Ensure packaging complies with customer materials inclusion/exclusion requirements
  • Ensure compliance of all legal requirements (i.e. post-consumer declarations, labeling, and safe packaging of materials
  • Support Innovation & Development Chef’s new packaging requirements and expedite delivery to ensure tight delivery timelines and enhancing our speed to market
  • Work with Supply Chain to obtain initial quotations for new packaging
  • Complete prequalification of potential new suppliers and obtain needed documentation
  • Ensure packaging is properly procured and in place for all test/pilot runs
  • Prototyping of new packaging, molds, carriers, etc using Makerbot or other 3d printer
  • Creation of label templates or artwork
  • Must be able to work with tight timelines and meet target dates
  • Understands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s)
  • Performs assignments in accordance with established GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies and procedures
  • Will perform other duties as required by supervisor

  • Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office; with advanced skills in Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Makerbot or other 3d printer software.
  • Related educational degree preferred
  • One to four years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing/food environment and must comprehend the production and inventory control systems used by SROriginals


Bakery experience preferred but not required


Responsible for packaging requirements related to commercialization projects. The candidate will be responsible for working with suppliers to ensure packaging solutions are developed, tested and delivered.

This position is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products.

The job duties include responsibility for assuring food safety and for food quality for SRO products.

A supervisor or other person of authority should be notified if any issues or threats to food safety or food quality are observed.
