R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan professional services firm. Since 1969, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging infrastructure projects. R&M’s Structural Engineering Group provides structural engineering in support of a variety of building, bridge, transportation, site development, utility, and port and harbor projects.
R&M is currently seeking a dynamic, outgoing Senior Structural Engineer to support expansion of our established Structural Engineering Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the Senior Project Engineer will manage and perform technical design work, coordinate technical staff, assure quality on all projects and work performed by structural staff, assist with marketing structural engineering services and assist with recruiting structural staff. Technical design work includes serving as structural lead on port and harbor development projects, including piers, wharfs, mooring dolphins and moorage float systems; performing structural analysis and designs on other vertical projects; seismic design; and managing structural projects.
The successful applicant will supervise Project Engineers and Staff Engineers, perform technical design work, and coordinate with other groups within the Civil Engineering Department, as well as with R&M’s Geomatics, Earth Sciences, Construction Administration, and Materials Lab/Special Inspection Departments. This position involves participation in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings.
The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The Senior Project Engineer will work under the supervision of the Group Manager: Structural Engineering in close coordination with other team members.
This position requires a B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline and 15 or more years of experience in structural design work and project management. Experience in marine infrastructure is desirable. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and RISA 3D desired, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Office products. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaska P.E. in Structural Engineering required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
