Silver Bay Seafoods is currently looking for a Rolling Stock Mechanic for our processing facilities in Alaska. The Rolling Stock Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of all facility rolling stock including but not limited to forklifts, flatbeds, and all other company vehicles.
- Timely and regular attendance.
- Repair and preventative maintenance on all plant rolling stock.
- Parts and inventory control for all facility vehicles.
- Report directly to the Chief Engineer with any concerns regarding rolling stock or general safety to ensure all State and Federal regulations are met.
- Keep accurate record of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of rolling stock.
- Keep a well-organized and maintained work space.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
3 years of forklift mechanic experience in all aspects including electrical preferred.
The incumbent will be highly experienced in multiple mechanical skills including general knowledge of maintenance and repair of forklifts, flatbeds and automobiles.
Employee must hold a valid US Driver’s License. CDL preferred but not required.
Employee must be willing to easily adapt to a wide variety of tasks assigned to them.
The incumbent must be able to take quick action, exercise independent decision making and resolution of mechanical malfunctions in a rigorous seafood environment. They are willing to follow directions and carry out duties with a sense of urgency and keen attention to detail.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee needs the ability to multitask in a high demand environment. Focus and concentration maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment related to facility rolling stock. The employee needs to regularly demonstrate attention to detail when maintaining all rolling stock within the facility. In addition, the incumbent must possess a keen sense of the importance of punctuality for a variety of designated tasks by demonstrating a sound work ethic. The employee has an eagerness to learn and the desire to do quality work.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
The Rolling Stock Mechanic position requires driven machinery certifications such as a forklift, expediter or flatbed truck which in turn requires a valid driver’s license.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
