We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled,results-oriented team of software engineers. We’re building the next generation of our systems, and we want someone with as much passion for the work as we have. If you absolutely love building solutions in Python and SQL on AWS, and have a solid foundation of software engineering skills, you may be the person we’re looking for.
You'll be working as part of an Agile team, developing the software that powers our business. This is a hands-on role, working with other engineers, writing code,testing, and deploying the finished apps and libraries.
Create working,maintainable, and fast web service APIs, batch processes, event driven processes, and libraries from requirements and in conjunction with other members of your team.
Enhance,refactor, and continuously improve the code base.
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people.
Solve business needs with short-term deliverables, while constantly improving and moving towards long-term architectural goals.
Generate new ideas, never say or think, "that's not my job."
Be proactive in keeping your skills fresh.
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s in an unrelated field with at least 5 years of software development experience. A relevant Master's degree is a plus.
Certified Scrum Master is a plus
2+ years of experience in development with Python 3 and SQL (primarily DML).
1+ years of experience developing on AWS and Linux.
Experience with any of the following is a plus: SQLServer, MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, Docker, Node, Golang, .Net.
Ability to write idiomatic Python 3 code.
Knowledge of Python performance techniques.
Familiarity with performance testing and tuning Python servers.
Good working knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration.
Good understanding of OOAD, OOP, and design patterns.
An appreciation for pragmatism and simplicity in code.
A strong code and architecture design sensibility.
