We’re on the lookout for a Fleet Serviceability Engineer that will help design and create our Service and Maintenance programs. We’re looking for a hands-on expert who can help Nikola secure a zero emissions future with our hydrogen fuel cell electric, and all electric class 8 semi-trucks.
This new position will support a broad strategy to help deliver world class service and maintenance to customer fleets in the U.S. and be part of a collaborative team responsible for timely servicing, preventative maintenance, and asset productivity up-time.
In this role you’ll work directly with initial design and engineering teams to keep the fleets running and ensure that future services and repairs are performed efficiently. You’ll optimize vehicle engineering to achieve standardized repair times and assist in delivering maximum truck up-time. Ongoing continuous improvement and advancements will be incorporated by leveraging technician feedback and vehicle performance.
Work cross-functionally to scale serviceability and maintenance for fleet of BEV and Hydrogen-Electric class 8 trucks
Develop robust and scalable processes to reduce engineering and technician time to scale and support the fleet
Work to drive continuous improvement into the design, operation, and maintenance of the vehicles based on field findings
Proactively looks for and drive improvements to process and design to support safety, maintainability, and reliability
Improve fleet reliability by identifying key gaps within service and warranty issue tracking
Support engineered solution for technical training academy
Maximize fleet operation and vehicle reliability & utilization
This type of engagement requires a ‘hands on’ approach and a person who loves being where the work happens. Additionally, we’re looking for someone with:
An intimate working knowledge of preventative & predictive maintenance method
BS ME with at least 4 years’ experience with HD trucks (class 6-8) or BEVs
2 or more years’ experience with Catia software
Effective communication skills able to work across internal functions and collaboratively with external partners
Hands on manufacturing and/or repair service experience
Technician, electronics, electric vehicle backgrounds, helpful
