Perform highly skilled operation, repair and maintenance of the Central Utility Plant and its associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner using comprehensive understanding of system interdependencies and operations. Manage, analyze system data and monitor the Building Automation Control Systems (Honeywell and Johnson), anticipate system needs, problem-solve and adjust set points. Dispatch personnel in response to critical and non-critical system alarms and inform building occupants as required. Communicate with a variety of University personnel to effectively and efficiently manage the utility resources. Access information utilizing appropriate desktop applications. Promote a workplace that encourages safety within the Shop and field. May operate a University vehicle. Actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer service experiences.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
High School Diploma, vocational building trades training and four years of experience in heating and/or cooling plant operations and maintenance and Building Automation Management Systems experience required. VT Natural Gas Certification; VT Fuel Oil Burning Equipment Installer (Limited) Certification, or ability to obtain within one year required; Effective verbal communication skills required. Experience using computers required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check may be required. Comfortable in confined spaces and with heights. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful background check and physical screening.
