JEL’s name is recognized throughout the industry for our commitment to quality, on time delivery and years of experience in the finishing industry. From chromating, phosphating, multiple automated powder coat systems, wet painting, robotic electrostatic painting, silk screening, pad printing and stenciling, we do it all.
JEL Finishing seeks an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team at our Chelmsford, Massachusetts facility. This individual will work directly with managers, engineering and production staff to implement new procedures and monitor the production process to ensure that quality goals are met. This individual will be responsible for balancing customer requirements with company productivity and efficiency goals, all without sacrificing safety and quality. This is a customer-facing role, reporting directly to the General Manager and with data reporting responsibility to our Corporate Headquarters.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: ISO compliance, participation in project launches, establishing and implementing metrics for monitoring system effectiveness thereby enabling managers to make sound product quality decisions, regular interaction with engineering to understand process capability and suggest ideas for improvement, and oversight of calibration and testing programs.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably a finishing environment. Strong MS Office skills (Excel), the ability to read blueprints and familiarity with military/aerospace specifications are required.
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience with SPC, AS9100 and Six Sigma strongly preferred. An analytical and meticulous mindset, coupled with a genuine passion for continuous improvement, will round out the skill set of the successful candidate.
