Job Description Summary
This position works closely with Engineers/Technicians from R&D, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering to perform research and development duties, including planning, organizing, scheduling, and tracking work activities. May also require interface with Marketing and Sales to collect user needs and determine product requirements. The Engineer is responsible for testing, analyzing, researching and developing new processes and Vascular Access products for Bard Medical Delivery Solutions Division. These activities must comply with GLP and/or the BMD quality system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following.
Provides the needed design support to properly document all product/tooling/process specifications.
Performs tests and experiments in accordance with the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Perform, organize, plan and document research activities leading to new or improved products with vascular access applications.
Develop, organize, plan, validate and document test methods that may be used for product development.
Design, review, plan, conduct and document laboratory experiments for the evaluation of new or improved products.
Draft protocols, test reports, test methods and data summaries.
Produce and maintain laboratory notebooks which thoroughly, neatly and accurately record all research activities.
Set up, safely operate and maintain laboratory equipment and test instruments.
Other duties may be assigned.

Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.

Proficient in the use of a personal computer with intermediate level of keyboarding skills. Proficient in MS Word and Excel

Ability to create, review and coordinate test protocols and report
Ability to make and present engineering decision
Software application skills (e.g. SolidWorks)
Basic comparative statistics
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Analytical problem solving
Understanding of statistical principles and data analysis
Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering or other engineering field is required
0-2 years engineering experience in a regulated industry
0-2 years experience in medical device development
Knowledge and training in project management, QSR, process development and/or design control processes is a plus
