The Environmental Services Team provides expertise and services for all types of regulatory and environmental related projects. Project types include, but are not limited, to permitting, stream and wetland mitigation, mitigation banking, field studies, NEPA, and wetland delineations.
The Restoration Ecologist will:
Assist with the biological, chemical, and geomorphic analysis of Iowa's streams and water resources
Assist with developing restoration plans for wetlands, streams and other natural resource areas
Develop long-term natural resource management plans
Provide construction oversight to restoration projects
Monitor and assess the biological communities of previously constructed restoration activities
Assess the impacts of projects on biological communities including wetlands, woodlands, prairies, streams, and other communities
Complete wetland delineations and coordinate with designers avoid or minimize impacts
Prepare applications for Section 404 permits and 401 Water Quality Certifications
Coordinate permitting activities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and County Conservation Boards
Assignments may require extended periods working, travel, and operating a variety of water and land vehicles.
Qualified candidates are required to have:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Fisheries and Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, or other environmental degrees
2+ years of experience assisting with restoration planning and completing wetland delineations.
