As a Project Engineer for the City Environmental Strategies team you will be responsible for the completion of strategic environmental programs, projects, technical environmental and sustainability research and various related tasks as required including:
Conduct preliminary technical analyses/research to understand issues that will impact the scope of projects/programs/initiatives
Participate in and evaluate engineering and technical studies and makes recommendations based on professional judgement (e.g., Climate change risk/vulnerability assessment)
Provide professional expertise, interpretation and feedback for technically complex or sensitive issues and applies scientific information to make recommendations for practical solutions
Prepare technical policies and procedures/processes
Develop project plans and public consultation plans as assigned or required
Support the evaluation and/or development of tools for analysis and monitoring of sustainability and long term community and infrastructure resilience (eg. resiliency life cycle assessments)
Support leadership, management and implementation of air quality and climate change programs, projects and initiatives
Develop Requests for Proposals (RFP) for consultants and other service providers as required
Evaluate RFP submissions from consultants
Administer the terms and conditions of contractual agreements
Provide project management oversight and technical oversight for assigned projects
Draft intermediate reports and final reports
Analysis of environmental, sustainability and resiliency initiatives and programs in other municipalities and organizations (regional, national and international) to identify 'best practices' that could be applicable to Edmonton
Evaluate data and facilitating information sharing across partners

Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
4 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in climate change adaptation or environmental management and risk assessment
Registered as a Professional Member (P.Eng) or eligible for membership with APEGA (minimum E.I.T.). Those with an E.I.T. designation will be considered at a lower level
Broad understanding of climate change issues
Experience developing climate change adaptation plans for a municipal or private organization or experience using climate risk/vulnerability assessments and other tools and integrating adaptation initiatives
Familiar with the City of Edmonton Design and Construction Standards
Experience in legislation, ISO 14001, identification of current and future risks and opportunities, environmental performance improvement and reporting
Strong quantitative analytical skills and the ability to analyze, explain and evaluate highly complex technical information and policy issues
An effective change agent who inspires action, builds commitment and generates enthusiasm
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Exceptional project management knowledge and skills
Able to develop processes/methodologies/tools when few precedents or guidelines are available
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask, manage a number of complex tasks, develop innovative solutions and use a logical approach to achieve strict deadlines independently
Leadership and team skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships

Salary: $73,738 - $105,340 (Annually)
