Engineers at TC Electric work closely with the various trades (Electrical, Power, Signal, civil, mechanical) while also getting input from Cost Engineers & Project Management to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions. Engineers follow the designs from beginning to end; survey, drafting, installation drawings, manufacturing, installation, & final acceptance. In addition, Engineers will manage sub-contractor coordination and engineering. All steps are done while constantly integrating Multidisciplinary Engineering Design also promoting individual learning to achieve the desired solution.
The key role of the CADD Engineer is to assist the PMs and Engineers by creating electrical drawings in all their stages including but not limited to installation drawings for use by the labor force to build contract work. Installation drawings include plans and layouts, section views, elevations views, and various details.
Create electrical drawings, specifically wiring diagrams and Electrical schematics.
Work with Engineers and Electricians to create and design drawings based on contract and field conditions.
Work with multiple disciplines including but not limited to Power, Electrical, I&C, Signals, Communications, Fiber Optics, Civil, Track, Architecture.
Create different types of drawings including but not limited to layout, installation, manufacturing, details and clipboard templates.
Create As-built drawings, reflecting the installed conditions and update the necessary drawings.
Be prepared to learn new software if the project requires it.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a CADD Operator.
AutoCAD skills required (2D).
BIM/Revit skills desirable (3D).
Must be capable of converting MicroStation V8I files to AutoCAD
Ability to create drawings from scratch a plus.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred in CADD/Design, Engineering Design or Architectural/MEP Design required.
