About the job
At Nest we are building the helpful home, a home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it. As part of the Nest Engineering Production (EngProd) Team, you will be growing software quality to launch quality products such as the Nest Thermostat, Nest Camera, Google Home, Chromecast, Google Wifi, and Google Assistant Display products. You will work on bringing test leadership to grow launches on products and end-user facing features. You will grow test engineering across multiple teams building excellent solutions to challenging problems to provide quality insights throughout the product development life-cycle. You will lead system level test engineering with a focus on power and thermals for devices running in various conditions.
Develop and execute tests for validating system level power and thermal characteristics for low power/battery powered devices.
Participate in the design review for conducting electrical, and functional experiments to measure power and battery life performance under guidance from engineering management.
Perform power and thermal measurements on low to high power devices on different hardware and OS platforms in typical and non-typical workload scenarios.
Develop and run scripts to automate control test equipment, interact with a fleet of units under tests, interact with Google data logging infrastructure, and parse data extracted from other tools.
Develop, manage, and maintain a test-bed or laboratory setup for specific tests from start to finish and enable testing at vendor facilities.
