The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring that IPS Portland is meeting and exceeding the technical requirements of our customers. The purpose of this position is to apply focus and management from a technical perspective to be a solution for our customers’ problems and projects to ensure that we are providing Unmatched Customer Experience (UCE)
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
Plan, direct, or coordinate technical activities in manufacturing/repair engineering including, but not limited to quoting and estimating, work plans, BOMs, Routers, inspection criteria, reports and process documentation for project motor/generator work greater than NEMA frame size as well as large machine work.
When required, on-site evaluation of a customer’s problems or projects with motors, generators and other related equipment.
Sales and marketing Support: Technical Point of Contact (POC) for customers. Visit the customer site to partner with them to gather data, troubleshoot and solve problems and to specify products, services and equipment.
When required, work with Field Service to offer and provide advanced technical services to address customer concerns or provide support.
Coordinate and direct projects by making detailed project plans and budgets to accomplish the project goals.
Support the Quality System by creating process documentation, work instructions and process standards when required by customer specification on project work.
Support customer qualifications and engineering related customer quality issues.
Review customer specifications and coordinate with the Customer Service Manager to resolve comments and exceptions with the customer.
Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure that customer specifications and requirements are being met.
Support work standards and procedures for motor service repair and technical work in conjunction with LEAN/CIPS initiatives.
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing reports and providing recommendations to the AGM concerning the purchase of and specifying of equipment or metrology investments, materials or services.
Perform the functions of Area General Manager in their absence.
