Looking for a great opportunity with a growing, locally-owned company? Cynerge Consulting and our sister company, LocalHop, are seeking full-time application testing engineer!

We are looking for someone that embraces our dynamic nature and wants to take their career to the next level. We provide an opportunity for you to do your best work in an environment where collaboration, teamwork, growth, and creativity are rewarded. Cynerge provides agile application development, infrastructure management, and IT asset management services to government and private sector clients. LocalHop provides an events management software platform for local organizations, such as libraries, art councils, and local charities.

Our team works hard and is passionate about what we do. We have a kick-ass crew and work in a historic building in downtown Pontiac, complete with our own coffee shop and wine cellar. Cynerge is currently seeking a good engineer with development and quality assurance experience to help us test and build quality applications in less time. Candidates will be part of a team that will deliver applications across our client base as well as help us internally modernize our testing practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate application testing activities for client applications
  • Provide technical administration for testing software, including the implementation of test orchestration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Cloudbees, or CircleCI), implementation of plug-ins, and the creation of standard templates that can be adopted by application teams
  • Design, build, and manage automated test frameworks and scripts that support a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) approach
  • Perform manual testing, when needed and appropriate
  • Conduct 508 testing
  • Define the testing approach, pipelines, and process to be used in our application development lifecycle
  • Assess and implement tools that boost our ability to automate testing
  • Create test scripts and testing plans that support the application development activities
  • Research testing best practices and acceptable thresholds
  • Establish metrics for the measurement of acceptable test results
  • Work in partnership with the application developers, product owners, and business users to understand requirements and project impacts
  • Provide oversight to ensure testing practices are adhered to
  • Manage test artifacts in a Git repository
  • Participate in team code reviews and design reviews
  • Help our support team triage bugs and troubleshoot production issues
  • Adhere to Cynerge and client policies and procedures related to application design, development, and operation
  • Support customer engagement and follow-up

Prerequisites:

  • 2-5 years’ work experience in a testing role performing substantially all the above responsibilities
  • Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing is a requirement
  • Experience with Automation testing frameworks like CircleCI, Jenkins, Cloudbees, Codecept.js, Cypres.js, Selenium, or similar
  • Experience with “mobile-first” and “cloud-native” designs
  • Experience writing and utilizing unit tests and end-to-end tests
  • Experience with the usage of Github (or Git version control systems)
  • Experience working in an agile development environment is a plus
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure is a plus
  • Self-starter with an ability to take a task, analyze what needs to be done, and deliver results in a timely manner (we don’t do “analysis paralysis”)
  • Detail oriented, team player with an ability to work with minimal direction
  • Excellent communication skills in a customer-facing work environment
  • Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • Required – US Citizen or “green card” holder
